10% HOMESTEAD CAP
According to the Texas Property Tax Code the assessed value of a homestead property can only increase by 10% from one year to the next. If the market value of a homestead property increases by more than 10% the assessed value would cap. Unfortunately, there was an error in the printing of our Notice of Appraised Value and the Homestead Cap amount is not showing. To verify you have a homestead cap, please access your property here on our website. Under Property Values you will see Appraised Value, Homestead Cap Loss and Assessed Value. The Assessed Value is the value less the exemptions.

The mission of the Orange County Appraisal District is to discover, list and appraise all property located within the boundaries of the district in an accurate, ethical and impartial manner in an effort to estimate the market value of each property and achieve uniformity and equity between classes of properties.
